The 20-year-old is being eyed as the back-up needed for Craig MacGillivray, as the Blues put the final pieces in their squad ahead of the close of the January window.

Chapman linked up with the squad at their Roko training base in Hilsea, with Kenny Jackett in the market for a keeper.

He was put through his paces by goalkeeping coach John Keeley along with the Blues’ other options between the sticks, before taking part in a training match.

Chapman is currently contracted with Championship side Huddersfield until the summer of 2022.

A deal for the man who has been on the bench for the Terriers in the Championship would still leave a space available in Pompey’s squad under the new restrictions in force, with players under the age of 21 not counting towards the 22-player limit.
