The winger will miss the remainder of the campaign after being on the receiving end of Sean Raggett’s tackle, in last week’s 2-0 defeat at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Raggett produced an impressive challenge on the 28-year-old in the box to deny him a shot on goal, after Taylor had driven forward unopposed in the 25th minute.

It was a firm-but-fair tackle from the defender which wasn’t penalised, but led to the former Rotherham man being forced off two minutes later for Fejiri Okenabirhie.

He told the Doncaster Free Press: ‘Jon will be out for the rest of the season.

‘It’s a big disappointment and we wish him all the best for his recovery and we’ll do whatever we can to help him.

‘I’ve spoken to him a lot and I’ve asked him to be around the group a lot. He’s a motivator and you have to have people around like that.

‘He’s an important part of the club so we want to do what’s right by him to give him the best possible chance for the following season.

‘He’ll be back ready for pre-season. It’s just a case of it being a three or four month recovery.’
