But Kenny Jackett admitted a departure for Jordy Hiwula could see the attacker back in the fray at Fratton Park and aiming to end his Blues woes.

Hackett-Fairchild’s loan with National League Bromley is at a close, where the 22-year-old’s impressed over the first half of the campaign.

The former Charlton man could return to Hayes Lane or go to another loan side, with a host of clubs keen on his services.

Jackett explained the picture will become clearer for Hackett-Fairchild this week.

He said: ‘Reeco’s loan is up today and Bromley have been off themselves with Covid.

‘For Reeco, we’ll decide on the situation and whether he comes back to us or goes back out on loan.

‘It will very much depend on what happens with our other forward players really.

‘We’ll see where we are but I’d think the chances are he’d be going back out on loan next week.

‘Bromley are keen but we’ve had a number of calls about Reeco.

‘The options are he comes back to us, goes back to Bromley or goes elsewhere.

‘We have some time to discuss it with him and see what option we’re going to choose.

‘We’ll certainly make our minds up this week.’

It’s been a nightmare year at Pompey for Hackett-Fairchild since signing last summer, with just a single EFL Trophy appearance to his name after signing from Charlton.

Jackett admitted he’s been through a painful period and now finds himself having to manage what is best for Pompey with what suits his player moving forward.

He said: ‘Reeco’s got a lovely left foot and he’s scored some excellent goals there. He’s getting regular football

‘Through not fault of his own he’s really suffered in the last year.

‘So it’s good to see he’s picked up now - and we would want that to keep going.

‘In terms of options, we need to look after the club but we do need to keep him moving, keep him going and playing.’
