The 23-year-old has enjoyed a stop-start opening to his Blues career, after arriving on a three-and-a-half-year deal from Accrington in the summer.

Now he is out to show what he’s capable of.

Naismith said: ‘I’ve got the hunger to show everyone what I can do.

‘I’ve got the hunger to prove to the supporters, prove to myself, the manager and everyone.

‘If I get a run of games I’ll get better and better.

‘But it’s up to me to earn that by working hard and doing my best any time I do go in.

‘In time, I hope the Portsmouth fans see a lot more of me.’

After impressing in a loan spell at Hartlepool, Naismith wants to stay put at Pompey, where he is now becoming more at home.

He said: ‘I’m intending on being around for the rest of the season.

‘I’m definitely more settled now.

‘I enjoyed playing Tuesday and I’m at a great club with a great bunch of lads and a great coaching staff.

‘It’s the same for every player here.

‘If you get your head down and work hard you are never far away.

‘You have to prove to the gaffer you are hungry and have the desire.

‘If you do that, you are never far away so I wanted to back with the boys and training as hard as possible.’
