Knight: Don't get jumpy, Portsmouth win would calm all

Following successive draws, Pompey's lead at the top of League One has been cut to two points, and those texts and tweets have started to emerge.

I saw a few of them on Saturday following the point at Accrington. There are some suggestions from supporters that the wheels are coming off and how it's typical of Pompey to fold from this position.

That's their opinion, of course, but my view is I don't sense that happening at present.

We're all aware that teams below are picking up wins, while Coventry have rattled off five-successive league victories to move into seventh. 

However, I don't think we have been outplayed this season, we've always been in matches, won games and have lost only once in the league so far.

Certainly I don't believe there's anything to be anxious about. Now we have a great opportunity to earn three points at a struggling Bradford.

A Valley Parade draw would be a little disappointing '“ if we want to get to where we're aiming, these types of games need to be won. We have to go there and do the business.

Nothing is a given, it's not that simple. If you start believing victory is a done deal then it bites you on the backside.

A draw or defeat at Bradford and even more people will question whether we're on the slide. The only thing you can do is get back to winning ways.

I must admit, I was disappointed not to win at Accrington following that opening 25 minutes when we could have been two or three up.

In the end, though, a point can be seen as decent. Accrington are a good side who will cause problems for teams and be there or thereabouts for the play-offs.

In fact, Craig MacGillivray's good penalty save prevented us from falling behind, albeit he gave it away after spilling the corner and then chasing the ball, which can happen.

Next it's Bradford, who are obviously having a bad time of it this season.

If we can claim victory there, you'd definitely be happy with four points from six on the road recently.
