Pompey visit Kenilworth Road on Tuesday (7.45pm).

The home of the Hatters has a capacity of 10,226 all seated. Away fans are housed in the Oak Road Stand at one end of the ground.

If this is your first visit to the ground, then don’t be surprised when you find the away entrance on Oak Road is through a rather small alleyway.

It gives you the impression you are queuing to enter someone’s back garden. Once inside, you will find that legroom in the stand is very tight and supporting pillars can obstruct your view.

If you are travelling by road, you will almost certainly arrive via the M25 and M1.

The easiest route is to exit the M1 at junction 11 and take the A505 (Dunstable Road) towards Luton.

Go through one set of traffic lights and at the first roundabout, turn right into Chaul End Lane.

At the next roundabout, turn left into Hatters Way.

While continuing down Hatters Way the ground will be seen on your left, although it is not accessible from this road.

At the end of Hatters Way turn left and start looking for street parking from here on (the ground will now be on your left).

Parking is a problem as there is no parking at the stadium and the surrounding streets offer little and are usually filled early.

Oak Road is closed to traffic on match days.

Meanwhile, there is a residents-only parking scheme in operation near the ground.

So you will have to travel further away to find street parking.

There is the multi-storey Crawley Road car park LU1 1HZ in the town centre.

Other car parks can be found on luton.gov.uk/parking

Past experience has shown that many of the car parks in town recommended by the football club have to be pre-booked.

Try justpark.com/uk/parking for further information.

The nearest station to the ground is Luton Station.

Trains run from London St Pancras to Luton and take about half an hour.

After the match, the last train from Luton to ensure you get back to Portsmouth leaves at 10.16pm.

You will need to change at London Blackfriars for Waterloo and the last train home, leaving at 11.45am.

Industrial action is planned on the Southern line from Portsmouth to Victoria on Tuesday.

The walk from the station is just short of a mile.

Turn right out of the station, along Station Road and into Mill Street.

Turn left into New Bedford Road, then right into Collingdon Street.

At the end, follow the pedestrian walkway and go along the footbridge over the busy road.

Bear right and into Dunstable Road.

The fifth left will be Oak Road, where the away turnstiles are situated.

On past visits, no alcohol has been served in the away end.

The nearest place to the ground for a pint is the Beech Hill Conservative Club at 18a Leagrave Road, LU4 8HZ.

A small admission fee is made for non-members.
