Poole responded superbly, though, and we back level within nine minutes of the second period.

However, Gosport pushed for a winner got their reward when super-sub Matt Tubbs netted in the 76th minute.

McAllister insists his side deserved all three points against the Dolphins.

He hopes Borough can use the victory as a springboard to getting their season back on track.

The manager said: '˜This was a big win for us and one we thoroughly deserved.

'˜The lads were great and the belief was there.

'˜We made hard work of it by conceding two quick goals after half-time and it was important to keep our chin up.

'˜But we were playing with confidence and I honestly believed we would go and score again.

'˜The players can take full credit for the character they have shown.

'˜We want to do well for this football club and hopefully the fans saw that.

'˜There was a lot of hard work and effort put in by the players.

'˜In the end, we got what we deserved which was all three points.'
