Mokoena Pompey exit '˜imminent'

Aaron Mokoena's Pompey departure is '˜imminent'.

That is the belief of his agent Paul Mitchell, who claims the defender’s Bidvest Wits free transfer is nearing completion.

That would represent a timely boost for the Blues, who are desperate to offload players as swiftly as possible.

With the Company Voluntary Arrangement meeting on Monday which, if agreed, will be a key step to Pompey coming out of administration, the removal of Mokoena from the wage bill would be welcome news for any potential owner.

The final details of a compromise agreement between the defender, who still has a year left on his contract, and Pompey is still to be finalised.

However, Mitchell does not expect that to be a sticking point. And with matters settled at the end of South African club Bidvest Wits, he expects his client to seal a move back to his homeland very soon.

Mitchell said: ‘We are waiting for Aaron to sort a few things out with Portsmouth. He could leave any time, but I expect it to be imminent because I cannot see any problems. It is pretty straightforward.

‘There are some matters to be done with the lawyers but it won’t drag on. I expect it to be settled very quickly.

‘Aaron is really looking forward to this move. He had offers from various clubs and parts of the universe, such as the UK, the Middle East and China.

‘He thought long and hard about it and decided to come home and join a progressive club like Bidvest Wits.’

Benjani has also been linked with the South African club following his Pompey release.

Coach Roger de Sa met the veteran striker more than a week ago, but a deal has yet to be finalised for the ex-Zimbabwe international.
