The Southern Premier League Division 1 South club are currently advertising for only their third boss since 2003.

The closing date for applications - following Dave Carter’s recent decision to swap Dover Road for AFC Portchester’s Crest Finance Stadium - is next Tuesday.

Chairman Pete Seiden has already heard from a ‘good variety’ of interested parties keen on taking over at the step 4 club.

‘We’re into double figures in terms of applications,’ he revealed.

‘The board will meet next Wednesday, we’ll sort out a shortlist, hopefully interview Thursday and Friday and have it wrapped up internally by then.

‘We’ll then announce it early the following week.

‘We want to get it all sorted out quickly so everyone knows where they stand.

‘We’ve had applications from people who’ve worked at higher division clubs, from ones a lot lower, from coaches wanting to get into management, young and old - there’s a good variety.’

Seiden said the decision on who will replace Carter will be taken by the club’s nine-strong board of directors.

‘That’s how we make all the decisions, whether it’s appointing a first team manager, a reserve manager or setting budgets.

‘The shortlist will be a board decision and whoever we appoint will need at least five of the nine votes.

‘We do it that way so one person’s view never dominates.’

This will be the first major managerial appointment Seiden has overseen since replacing Paul Gregory as Moneys chair in September 2018 as Carter had been in charge since October 2015.

Prior to his arrival from Horndean, Miles Rutherford had been Moneys manager for 12 years.

Moneyfields, meanwhile, are currently waiting on an FA announcement regarding the pandemic-wrecked 2020/21 campaign.

The Southern League fixture list has been paused since early November, with Moneys having only played four league games.

No club across the three Trident Leagues - the Southern, the Isthmian and the Northern Premier - have played fewer.

‘I’m hearing noises there could be an announcement towards the end of next week,’ said Seiden. ‘I would expect our league to be null and void.’
