Michael Birmingham is now planning on using the remainder of the Wessex League Premier season to give players opportunities.

‘The main thing for us now are the performances rather than the results,’ said Birmingham.

‘Players will be given the opportunity to show they deserve to be with us next season.

‘Hamworthy had a great result in midweek (beating Fareham 4-0) and I am expecting a tough game.’

The visitors are without suspended pair Ash Howes and Fuzz Kanjanda following their dismissals in the recent home loss to AFC Portchester.

Birmingham, however, hopes to have 19-goal top scorer Bobby Scott and Sam Hookey back from spells working away.

Scott has not featured since scoring twice in a 3-2 home win over Cowes on January 11.

Horndean have lost their past two home games, but have only suffered two away league defeats in 14 matches - at Fareham and Portchester before Christmas.

No Wessex top flight has lost fewer away games, with Stoneham and Portchester also losing just two.
