'Now or never' for Gosport Borough's play-off ambitions as they prepare to face Farnborough

Lee Molyneaux wants nothing less than a Hampshire derby win as Gosport Borough host Farnborough in the Southern League Premier South at Privett Park.

Borough are eight points adrift of the play-off places and time is running out if they are to secure a spot.

Although Borough dropped two vital points in a 0-0 draw against Salisbury in midweek, Molyneaux felt his team played well.

‘Time is our enemy at the moment and we need three points,’ he declared.

‘We need to pick up the momentum again and must do it now.

‘Points are needed on the board because we have 10 games left and have played more than the teams in and around us.

‘Nothing less than a win will do.

‘We bounced back well against Salisbury following our 3-0 defeat at Chesham.

‘We showed great intensity, willingness and desire to win the game.

‘Unfortunately, we lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

‘It was a game of few chances for either team with both defences remaining on top.

‘If we can repeat our hunger and quality then it should be enough to see us beat Farnborough.

‘We have to play with the same sense of purpose.

‘Our home form has been good of late and it is vital we keep that going.

‘On paper, the games coming up give us a chance and we have to make it happen.

‘It is now or never.’

Borough have doubts about Dan Strugnell and Theo Lewis who picked up knocks in midweek.

Experienced midfielder Josh Huggins returns to the squad after being rested for a few games.

‘Josh is coming back from a severe injury so we are managing him carefully,’ added Molyneaux.

‘He would run through a brick wall for us and we made that decision.

‘A refreshed Josh Huggins can be great for us.’

In midweek, Rory Williams and Mike Carter both did well after returning from injury.

Carter gave Borough a rough edge and arrogant presence in midfield which is something they had been missing.
