Wayne Grant believes he has assembled the strongest squad Paulsgrove have ever possessed.

Grove's Hampshire Premier League season might currently be suspended, but that has not prevented Grant from signing FIVE new players.

Jake Warlow and Glyn Cooper have returned to Marsden Road from Fleetlands while Jake Daniels, who last played for the club in 2016/17, is back following a spell with division-lower Harvest Home.

Forward Paul Widger and George Wells - coming back to Grove after a spell out of the game - complete the club's signing spree.

Boss Grant already had an abundance of talent, illustrated by winning eight of their opening nine Senior Division matches before non-elite football in England was brought to a stop by the second national lockdown.

‘I’ve been here six years and this is definitely the strongest squad we’ve ever assembled here,' said Grant.

‘Nothing will change my opinion - we’ll still aim for top three or four.

‘Even the centre-halves we’ve got, in my opinion we’ve got four absolute monsters of centre-halves that would walk into any team in this league or the Wessex League.

‘You can only play two at a time so there is going to be a lot of competition for places now for every position.

‘We’ve got three really good goalies, we’re very strong at the back.'

Grant did warn the new arrivals they will not be walking into the first-team, given the superb start they've made to 2020/21.

‘We’ve got a management team of six and we all talk about where we can strengthen, where do we need to strengthen and where do we need cover,' said Grant.

'Anyone that asks to come across or we approach is a joint decision between all of us.

‘It’s got to benefit the first and reserve teams because they sign for the squad and Paulsgrove.

‘Everyone has to come to us, earn their shirt and go from there.

'My early Christmas shopping is finished now for a while, I don’t really want to bring anyone else in.'

Paulsgrove remain uncertain as to when they will be allowed to resume their season with football currently on a month-long suspension.
