• Enjoy that?

I’ve not been to many Pompey games but the fans were phenomenal throughout.

I’m struggling to hear you as I’m doing this article because the atmosphere was so loud.

I was sat in the South Stand, nearer the away fans, and it was as if I was among the Fratton End, it was absolutely incredible.

Excellent support and backing of the team, I loved it.

• A deserved win then?

Nobody could deny that was a fair result, unfortunately for Grimsby!

Pompey were on top of their game from the first whistle to the last, they didn’t give Grimsby a shout.

David Forde made one good save in the opening few minutes but apart from that had nothing to do during the match.

They were excellent, playing really good football and there were a lot of superb performances among the players.

• Who stood out for you?

I thought Carl Baker was excellent, linking up play superbly, a performance topped off with a goal and an assist.

He was constantly using his team-mates, trying to create space through his passing and runs.

I thought Christian Burgess was also a stand-out performer, nullifying both Grimsby forwards and winning almost everything in the air. Gareth Evans also deserves some praise.

• Fancy Pompey to pull off promotion now?

Well, that was a massive win and other results also worked out.

Looking at the table, there is a six-point gap ahead of fourth place and Pompey are only four points off second spot, so you have to be encouraged.

Pompey are looking like a promotion side at the moment, especially in last night’s performance.

They definitely look capable of getting out of League Two this season.
