Pompey made title favourites once again

POMPEY have once again been installed as favourites to win League Two.

For the fourth consecutive season, the Blues are the shortest price to make it out of the basement tier as champions.

Despite the campaign still running, with the play-off final to be played, bookies have released odds for the 2016-17 season.

Wimbledon and Plymouth, who play at Wembley on May 30, have not been included in the prices.

But Paul Cook’s side are once again the shortest price with Football League sponsors Sky Bet.

They are clear favourites, priced at 5/1 in the outright market.

That’s in front of relegated Doncaster who are joint-second favourites with Luton after falling out of League One.

The Hatters are priced at 9/1 with Donny, with Nathan Jones’ side fancied for the second campaign on the bounce, despite a disappointing 11th-place finish this term.

Leyton Orient underwent a tumultuous campaign under Italian owner Francesco Becchetti, with Andy Hessenthaler the current caretaker manager.

They are fourth favourites at 10/1, with the bookies unable to separate Cambridge and fellow relegated pair Blackpool and Colchester. They are all priced at 12/1.

Wycombe ended up falling away from the play-off picture after finishing fourth in the 2014-15 season.

They are priced at 14/1 with Crewe the longest of prices for the relegated teams, with the Railwaymen marked as a 16/1 shot to bounce back at the first attempt.

Grimsby are the shortest odds of the two promoted sides, priced at 20/1 for an outright success. Cheltenham are grouped with play-off semi-final losers Accrington and Yeovil at 25/1.

Crawley and Morecambe are made outsiders, with both sides marked as 66/1 shots for the title.

Paddy Power see the League Two title race slightly differently. They still have Pompey a favourites, although they are as short as 9/2 in the outright market.

Luton and Leyton Orient are joint-second favourites with the oddsmakers at 13/2, with Doncaster next in at 8/1.

Colchester are 11/1, with Cambridge 12/1. Newport County are outsiders at 66/1.
