Pompey sign Danny Rose

Paul Cook has made his first signing of the summer, with Northampton midfielder Danny Rose joining Pompey on a two-year deal.

The 28-year-old helped the Cobblers to the League Two title last season, after joining the club midway through the campaign from Oxford.

But with his short-term deal at Sixfields expiring at the end of this month, the Blues have beaten the newly-promoted League One outfit to his signature, with Rose completing a medical at Fratton Park this morning.

Rose will officially become a Pompey player on July 1, when his time at Northampton comes to an end.

And it appears a matter of time before Cook adds to his summer recruitment drive, having expressed an interest in Chesterfield’s Jay O’Shea, Huddersfield’s Duane Holmes and former Pompey loanee Kieron Freeman.
Matt Clarke is also set to make his loan spell at the Blues permanent after being part of the deal that will see Adam Webster move to Ipswich.
