Pompey have released special limited edition remembrance poppy pin and huge crowds have lined up to get their hands on them.
The badges which have been produced in association with the Royal British Legion mark the centenary of the end of the First World War.
Only 1,000 of the pins – which feature a poppy and the Pompey badge – have been produced and eager fans have rushed out to get one.
The Pompey poppy pins went on sale at 9am today (October 30) with the club suggesting that fans make a donation of £3 for one.
The club say that fans can also call the ticket office on 0345 646 1898, but badges will need to be collected and will not be sent out in the post.
However the phone lines are proving as busy as the queue at the shop – with fans reporting waiting 33 minutes and even 45 minutes to get through.
Twitter user SBaggins tweeted: ‘Success. Took 33 mins to get through. They are posting via recorded delivery.’
While another user with the handle ash replied: ‘I'm up to 45 lol.’
All proceeds from the sale of the badges will go to The Royal British Legion.
Sarah Ferris, community fundraiser for The Royal British Legion, said: ‘We are delighted that Pompey have decided to support us again, particularly with the significance of the centenary year.
‘The Legion are pleased that Pompey have chosen to have a special 2018 commemorative pin badge for their followers to show support for both their club and The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.’
