However, there was still plenty of frustration at the final whistle, with many believing the 2-2 result was yet more needless dropped points from Kenny Jackett’s side.

Pompey thought they were heading for a third straight home defeat in the league when Luke Jephcott scored twice to hand the visitors the lead with 18 minutes remaining.

However, two late goals in two minutes got the Blues back on level terms, with Ronan Curtis’ persistence paying off as he fired past Michael Cooper.

That’s before James Bolton scored with a header three minutes from time to snatch a draw.

The Blues looked liked they could go on and win but the comebacks of all comebacks never materialised as Jackett & Co had to settle for a point.

Here’s how fans on social media reacted to the result.

@TheChief657: Phew, salvaged a point there but still feels like we missed out on 3.

@pompey_goals: Not the result we need but take it. Fair play Curtis rolled his sleeves up and took the game into his hands.

@knight37: 2-0 down with 5 minutes to play to draw 2-2 must be content with that result!

Well done Pompey that point could make all the difference end of season you never know?

@FrattonFaithful: A decent comeback when the game looked gone but Jacobs going off and Jackett's strange tactics didn't help things.

Showed some character but the bottom line is this is still a poor result and two points dropped. Paid the price for first half wastefulness.

@mattdribble: One of those weird games where I don't know whether to be pissed off for giving up a pair of dog goals or happy cos of the situation we were in.

@McgrealDeclan: Too little too late, Curtis looked good in that last 10 or so. Have to win be winning those game.

@MrFinlayW:Should've won that in the first half, but we'll take a point. Plymouth’s second goal was questionable.. these are games we need to win if you want to get promoted.

@GavH_: Great come back in the end I suppose we have to be happy with point after going down 2-0 late on, missed chances galore from 50 corners, need to work on them, play Curtis up front with Jonny next game please.
