Matt Ritchie and Josh Murphy handed John Mousinho’s men a surprise 2-0 lead after 45 minutes, only for Connor Ogilvie’s own goal to reduce it in first-half stoppage-time.
Then Liam Cullen levelled on 53 minutes and the Blues hung on, with Schmid conjuring up a stunning stop to deny Cullen another during a tough second period.
And here are our Pompey player ratings...

5. Connor Ogilvie - 7
Gifted Swansea an agonising own goal in first-half stoppage time when his feet became tangled while attempting to deal with a cross. Such a shame because otherwise he was very solid, reflecting improved recent form. And it was his cross which Saydee somehow missed at the death. Photo: Jason Brown

6. Freddie Potts - 6
Was overwhelmed at times, particularly in the second half, as Pompey didn’t have enough of the ball to utilise his passing talents . Photo: Jason Brown

7. Andre Dozzell - 7
Found it tough, with Pompey unable to spend time in possession of the ball, but put in a hell of a shift chasing and harrying. Photo: Jason Brown

8. Matt Ritchie - 7
(Replaced by Harvey Blair on 67 mins) Gives such excellent cover to rookie full-back Devlin, while always chasing and pushing forward seeking to impact the game in attacking terms. Had little of the ball, but that summed up Blues’ display. Although was in the right place to slide home Murphy's cross to open the scoring. Photo: Jason Brown/ProSportsImages
