Barnsley boss reveals stance on extending Cameron McGeehan's Portsmouth loan

Boss Gerhard Struber has revealed the Championship side are happy for the loanee midfielder to see out the season with the Blues.

According to the Barnsley Chronicle, chief executive Dane Murphy is in discussions with Pompey over extending McGeehan’s south-coast stay.

In addition, the Tykes have Mallik Wilks on loan at Hull, an arrangement they are also willing to extend.

McGeehan has remained with Pompey during football’s lockdown and also assisted with the club’s community effort.

He is presently training with the squad ahead of their first play-off semi-final fixture against Oxford United on July 3.

Struber told the Barnsley Chronicle: ‘They will stay at their loan clubs for the rest of this season, then we will see after that what is the best for those players.’

McGeehan has made 15 appearances and scored twice since arriving on loan in January.
