Conor Shaughnessy and Kusini Yengi were the scorers who inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Bolton – their first loss in all competitions for more than two months.
It was a magnificent display by the brilliant Blues who are now six points clear at the top. And here are our Pompey player ratings...
5. Jack Sparkes - 8
(Replaced by Zak Swanson on 90 minutes) Pompey’s set-piece king did it again, this time when his corner was headed home by Shaughnessy for the opener. His struggle against Blackpool seems an age ago and he has bounced back superbly, particularly defensively. Photo: Jason Brown
6. Marlon Pack - 9
Yengi rightly earned the plaudits and the man of the match award, but Pack ran him extremely close. His tackling, his pressing, his commitment, his dedication was superb, helping the Blues dominate the midfield areas in the second half. Although should have had a pop with his left foot in the box that time! Photo: Jason Brown
7. Joe Morrell - 9
Brought back straight into the side following suspension and it’s easy to see why. Grew into the game and one of Pompey’s best performers in the second half, seemed to be everywhere intercepting the ball. Photo: Jason Brown
8. Alex Robertson - 8
Pushed further forward in the midfield to accommodate Joe Morrell's return from suspension yet, such is Robertson's quality, he has shown he can produce accomplished displays in a variety of positions. A little quieter on the ball than in recent games, yet his work-rate and pressing was excellent. Photo: Jason Brown
