The Cheltenham-born ace has made 15 appearances in all competitions and started the past three League One games.

Pring, however, has mainly been second-choice left-back to vice-skipper Lee Brown has been fit.

City hold a recall option on Pring in January – and it’s claimed they may activate that clause.

Jay Dasilva is sidelined for several months with a shin injury, meaning Dean Holden's side are short of options on the left-hand side of defence.

The City boss admitted he has been considering recalling players who are out on loan.

Holden told BBC Radio Bristol: ‘We've got to be mindful of the players that we've got out on loan at different clubs and do we use the opportunity to recall some of those guys back into the squad.

‘It's very much dependent some of the ones we've just spoken on (long-term injured players).

‘If they're going to be out for a longer period then we're going to need to replenish a couple of areas of the squad.’

Should Pring depart Pompey then Jackett would need to recruit a new left-back during the January transfer window.
