Cash-strapped Wigan want more from Swansea for Jamal Lowe to help meet Portsmouth debt

Wigan are battling to avoid making a loss on Jamal Lowe as clubs seek a cut-price deal.

According to Wigan Today, the Latics still owe Pompey around £750,000 in unpaid fees following his July 2019 transfer.

The club, which is in administration, are presently cashing in on a number of last season’s Championship squad to reduce debts.

It has been reported that Swansea have already had a £500,000 bid turned down for Lowe, who scored six goals in 48 appearances for Wigan last term.

Accepting that offer, would have meant the troubled Latics also required to find an additional £250,000 to meet their debt to Pompey.

That has left the League One club holding out for more in order to meet their obligations to Pompey without falling further into debt.

Last summer, Lowe signed a three-year contract at the DW Stadium in a deal worth in excess of £2m for the Blues.

Now aged 26, the right winger featured 119 times for Pompey, scoring 29 goals.
