He proved his fitness by playing 16 matches, earning him a move to Fratton Park for the remainder of the campaign.
Daniels said: ‘The move was in the pipeline for a while. I had to wait for the contract to end at Shrewsbury before I could sign here.

Hide Ad‘I was playing at Shrewsbury, the players were asking what’s going on but nothing was really said to me or my agent so that’s where it was.
‘No-one was willing to give me an opportunity (in the summer) but Shrewsbury stepped up so I’m thankful to them and Sam Ricketts, who was manager at the time.
‘I just needed to get back out there and play and show I was fit again.
‘It was frustrating in the summer. I felt I was back and I played a few games in the under-23s.

Shrewsbury assistant-boss Aaron Wilbraham said he felt ‘let down’ by Daniels' departure before their FA Cup tie at Southampton last week.
The 34-year-old insisted there was 'more to it’ – but refrained from responding any further.
Daniels added: ‘I’ve got nothing but good things to say about Shrewsbury. They gave me an opportunity and gave them my all.

Hide Ad‘They’ve got a great squad. The club is in a great position in terms of the player, training ground, stadium and the manager (Steve Cotterill) so it’s all set up for them to be pushing up now.
‘I’m not going to reply to the comments. There is more to that than what he said. That’s all I’ll say about it.’
