Despite only being released on Wednesday, the second season of Sunderland Til I Die has been lapped up by supporters keen to get their football fix during the coronavirus pandemic suspending the campaign.

The fly-on-the-wall documentary shows behind-the-scenes footage of the Black Cats’ 2018-19 season after being relegated to League One.

Pompey feature fairly prominently throughout, with five meetings between the third-tier heavyweights throughout the campaign.

It includes Kenny Jackett’s side’s triumph in the Checkatrade Trophy final at Wembley, as well as the play-off semi-final defeat at the hands of Jack Ross' men.

Eric Eisner has already watched all six episodes and took to Twitter to gauge the Fratton faithful’s thoughts on how they enjoyed it.

On Twitter, Eisner wrote: ‘Just finished Sunderland Till I Die S2- curious people’s thoughts on the series....

‘And just for the record we are not looking to make a series about us; was just curious what people thought... hope everyone is staying safe most importantly!!’

The 70-minute documentary, which is narrated by Ian Darke, charts Pompey’s plight following the 2008 FA Cup victory and culminates with the May 2017 League Two title triumph.

It is a behind-the-scenes look at Fratton Park during the most turbulent times in the club’s history, using first-hand accounts of those who witnessed it.

Its wide range of contributors include Iain McInnes, Peter Storrie, Balram Chainrai, Mick Williams, Kev McCormack, Bob Beech, the late John Jenkins, Micah Hall and Ashley Brown.
