That’s the ringing endorsement offered by former Blues favourite Gary Roberts, who was a team-mate of the attacking-midfielder for the past three seasons.

Jacobs completed a free transfer to Pompey on Monday, after not renewing his Latics deal.

He signed a two-contract deal at Fratton Park, with the club having the option of extending his deal by another 12 months.

It’s the opposite move to the one which Roberts made in 2017.

After helping guide the Blues to the League Two title, he was reunited with former boss Paul Cook at the JJB Stadium.

Yet that disappointed hasn’t stopped him keeping an eye on his former club.

And after the Blues announced Jacobs’ arrival, Roberts gave the move his backing.

In a simple tweet, Roberts said: ‘Some player crackers – great signing’.

It’s an endorsement that will no doubt sit well with the Fratton faithful, with the fans desperate for Pompey to add attacking quality to their ranks ahead of another campaign chasing Championship football.

Roberts made 80 appearances and scored 20 goals during his two-year spell at Fratton Park.
