The 24-year-old was released this summer following three seasons at Fratton Park.

And he has swiftly fixed himself up with another club after joining League Two Rovers on a two-year deal.

McGee was recruited by new Pompey boss Kenny Jackett in July 2017 for an undisclosed fee from Spurs.

He proceeded to make 50 appearances during his maiden Fratton Park campaign as the Blues finished eighth upon their return to League One.

However, following the arrival of Craig MacGillivray from Shrewsbury in the summer of 2018, McGee lost his first-team place – and never regained it.

He went on loan to Bradford in January, making four appearances, yet their season end prematurely during the coronavirus crisis.

McGee left Pompey this summer upon the expiry of his contract after 55 appearances.

In a statement on Forest Green’s website www.fgr.co.uk, manager Mark Cooper said: ‘Luke (McGee) was always our number one target in discussions with Dan Connor (GK Coach) and my staff.

‘He had a good grounding at Tottenham and played at Peterborough and played lots of games for Portsmouth.

‘He’s 6ft 4ins, makes good saves and more importantly keeps the ball out of the net. He had interest from the Championship to go in as a number two, but wanted to come to us and play.’
