The Charlton centre-back is appealing for any information as thieves brazenly took his grey Mercedes-Benz GLE in the early hours of Monday morning (May 11).

Pearce, who scored two goals in 44 appearances during his second stint at Fratton Park before leaving for Leeds in 2012, posted CCTV footage on Twitter showing his car was stolen from just outside his house at 2.57am.

And the defender spoke of his shock that thieves could act in such a heartless manner during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Pearce wrote on Twitter: ‘To have your car nicked in this climate. Wow. There are some awful people around. To say I’m angry is an understatement!

‘Car Reg- LH18 AUR. Stolen we think early hours of this morning 11/5/20. Any info please contact me. Thank you.’

He added: ‘Car stolen early hours this morning. Get in the car very easily with keys in the house nowhere near door, start the car then can’t drive it, so leave the car running, go away, then come back, do what they do and drive away. Get away car drove past our house after. -share to help’

‘Thank you for everyone’s support. Appreciated. I wanted to show everyone what terrible people there are in this tough time atm. Stay safe.’

The defender was named the 2011-12 News/Sports Mail Pompey Player of the Year.
