Pompey are currently in the January transfer market for a new left-back after Cameron Pring's return to Bristol City.

Joining the Blues on a season-long loan, Pring made 15 appearances during the latest League One promotion push.

However, the Robins exercised their right to recall him this month to cover injuries to Jay Dasilva and Callum O'Dowda.

Yet Pring has suffered some bad luck since going back to his parent club – and now faces his own spell on the sidelines.

The former Walsall man suffered a hamstring injury in training, with boss Dean Holden confirming the defender is out for the foreseeable future and will see a specialist.

The Robins manager told the Bristol Post: ‘Unfortunately he's picked up a hamstring injury this week. It was the back end of last week.

‘We've sent him off to see a specialist to decide how we go about it in terms of his treatment. It's a big blow for us.

‘He's come back from Portsmouth and it's a possible opportunity to rejoin the squad having had so many loans. Really frustrating one to be honest.’
