Geovanni was brought in on trial by Harry Redknapp and impressed in a pre-season friendly win at Yeovil.

The striker scored one goal and set up another, but the permanent stay at PO4 never materialised.

Tony Adams was assistant manager at that time and has indicated they passed up the chance to sign the ex-Benfica man, with David Nugent and John Utaka later arriving and Benjani already at the club.

Geovanni went on to link up with City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson who took him to the City of Manchester Stadium.

He made 23 appearances there before making a big impact at Hull where he bagged 13 goals in 65 outings.
