The 67-year-old has returned to Kenilworth Road to be part of Jones’ coaching staff – a role he fulfilled before the Welshman’s move to Stoke in January 2019.

Hart was Pompey boss in 2009 when the Blues were in the Premier League.

He was initially appointed caretaker manager following Tony Adams’ sacking and was handed the role on a permanent basis in July of that year.

However, the Blues’ former Director of Youth Operations lasted only four months in the job.

Hart was sacked in November 2009 with the Blues three points adrift at the bottom of the table with two league wins from 13 Premier League games.

The one-time Leeds players first linked up with Jones at the Hatters in 2016.

He followed the Welshman to Stoke and is now reunited with him against following Jones’ return to Luton last month.
