Woan is among six Premier League players and staff who have caught the Covid-19 virus as clubs returned to training yesterday.

The Burnley assistant manager, one Watford player and two staff, as well as two other members from a third club make up that group.

Woan joined Pompey as an Academy coach in 2007 and later stepped into the first-team picture in 2010, before linking up with Sean Dyche at Watford the following year.

Burnley reported Woan has not shown any symptoms of the virus and is ‘safe and well at home’.

‘He will remain in close communication with club personnel regarding his re-engagement in training once he is clear of the virus,’ they said.

A total of 748 players and staff from 19 Premier League clubs were tested, with Norwich carrying out their testing yesterday.
