The 23-year-old has enjoyed a fine two-year spell at Whaddon Road since arriving from Rovers in May 2018.

In total, he scored 12 times in 87 appearances and was a talismanic presence for the Robins last term.

Broom registered eight goals and six assists as Michael Duff's side suffered League Two play-off semi-final defeat to Northampton.

The Newport-born ace, who's capable of playing both attacking-midfield and wing-back roles, has now moved up the Football League pyramid to join Peterborough.

The Posh are expected to be in the League One promotion mix heading into the upcoming campaign, after missing out on a play-off spot last term when the table was decided via an unweighted points-per-game formula.

Darren Ferguson’s side initially had a £150,000 bid rejected for Broom before Cheltenham accepted an improved offer. He becomes Peterborough's fifth signing of the summer.

The Posh have already secured the loan return of Reece Brown from Hudderfield, along with Ronnie Edwards (Barnet), Daniel Gyollai (Wigan) and Ethan Hamilton (Manchester United) on permanent deals.

The Posh are expected to lose last season's 26-goal top scorer Ivan Toney, though. He's been linked to a host of clubs included Celtic, Brighton and Brentford.

As things stand, Sean Raggett is the only signing of the summer.

The defender penned a two-year deal, after scoring two goals in 38 appearances while on loan from Norwich last term.
