What are your thoughts on the loss?

I wasn't too surprised if I'm honest. We started brightly and, as Kenny Jackett said, we won the corner battle but didn't take advantage.

Less than half of the deliveries beat the first man, which is criminal at any level let alone against a Premier League side.

We didn't have any cutting edge. Hopefully when Michael Jacobs comes into the side then he can get John Marquis into the game.

Our main problem is the defence still, there's been no progress.

Did the manner of the defeat frustrate you?

Brighton are a very good side and been in the Prem for a few years so they’re going to have players behind their first team that are better than ours.

Once the second goal went in after half-time, which was a good finish but the shot should have been closed down, it was game over.

I'd liked to have seen us go for it a bit more. At half-time, I wouldn't have minded switching to two up top by bringing Ellis Harrison on.

What's the worst that can happen? Try something new. Jackett doesn't seem to have a Plan B.

The substitutes are a straight swap all of the time – there is no positivity.

Who was your man of the match?

Craig MacGillivray for me. He kept the score down in the first half. He was very solid and stopped a few more goals going in.

I was surprised when he got dropped in January but has earned his place back.

What do Pompey need before the transfer window closes?

Definitely, another centre-back because you should always have four. I'd love to say a new manager but don't think it's going to happen!

We have a solid starting XI but not much else. Another centre-midfielder is required, too.

We've not replaced Cameron McGeehan, who I thought was really good towards the end of last season. I don't know what Bryn Morris does in there.

What do you think about Rochdale on Sunday?

They lost to newly-promoted Swindon last weekend so will be looking to bounce back.

I don't think there will be many changes, maybe Lee Brown coming back into the team. It will be good to see what Jacobs can do if he features.
