Debutant Jayden Meghoma was the star of the show as Pompey claimed a much-needed 2-0 win over Cardiff.
The Brentford loanee was outstanding from left-back, although goals from Conor Shaughnessy and Marko Milovanovic earned the Blues victory.
Admittedly, there were plenty of nervy defensive moments for John Mousinho’s men in a match which was wide open at both ends - and they could have easily added to their total.
But the win was theirs on a day when Fratton Park paid tribute to Pompey legend Alan Knight following his passing.
And here are our Pompey player ratings...

5. Conor Shaughnessy - 8
Restored to the side after being rested against Derby and opened the scoring with a header from Shade’s long throw. Blues had some shaky moments defensively at times but he was a towering presence throughout. | Jason Brown

6. Jayden Meghoma - 9 - Man of the Match
(Replaced by Zak Swanson on 65 mins) - Instant impact after being handed his debut. Loves to get forward from left-back, full of energy and running, while linked up well with fellow new-boy Shade. Hugely promising display and got a standing ovation. | Portsmouth FC

7. Marlon Pack - 8
(Replaced by Iyad Mohamed on 90 mins) An absolute rock in the centre of midfield, especially in times when the Blues needed to defend, winning a fair few headers in the process. | Jason Brown

8. Rocco Shein - 7
(Replaced by Ebou Adams on 65 mins) Frustratingly tends to dwell too long on the ball before delivering his pass, something picked up on by the crowd. Although created one great opportunity for Milovanovic in the first half after winning the ball. | Jason Brown
