That represents the sole change to the side which triumphed at Oxford United in the week, with Johnson presumably sidelined by injury.

Elsewhere, Jackett retains his centre-half partnership of Sean Raggett and Rasmus Nicolaisen, with Jack Whatmough again on the bench.

Leading scorer John Marquis is once more among the substitutes after being dropped for Tuesday night’s trip to the Kassam Stadium.

Meanwhile, James Bolton and Michael Jacobs continue to be absent through injury, while it was today announced that Alex Bass has joined Southend on an emergency loan.

Pompey: MacGillivray, Mnoga, Raggett, Nicolaisen, Brown, Harness, Naylor, Cannon, White, Curtis, Harrison.

Subs: Ward, Whatmough, Daniels, Williams, Marquis, Hiwula, Byers.
