Released by Bristol Rovers at the end of last season, the 32-year-old has moved to League One Shrewsbury on a free transfer.
Marquis has signed a two-year contract with the Croud Meadow outfit, who finished 19th in last season’s third tier, and is manager Paul Hurst’s ninth signing of the transfer window.

‘I think his know-how will be invaluable to the team and the squad. He will lead by example, help set standards across the football club and will be a big influence in the dressing room.’
Marquis has scored 155 goals for 11 different clubs since coming through the ranks at Millwall. Thirty-eight of those came during two spells at Pompey, with Kenny Jackett splashing out £1m for the front man’s services in the summer of 2019.
That big-money move came off the back of a goal-laden career at Doncaster Rovers, where the forward bagged 67 goals in 153 appearances for the Keepmoat outfit. However, Marquis was never able to repeat his Donny form at Fratton Park and often split opinion among the PO4 faithful.

He left the Blues under a cloud in January 2022, having fallen out of favour under Danny Cowley and resorted to shushing Blues fans and covering his ears when celebrating scoring.
With four goals in 24 outings that 2021-22 season, Marquis made the switch to Lincoln for the remainder of the campaign for a nominal fee.
A move to Bristol Rovers followed in August 2022. Marquis was then released by the Gas at the end of last term following 17 goals in 83 appearances.
