Here's 20 of the best free agents Portsmouth, Sunderland, Hull City, Charlton, Ipswich and rest of EFL could still sign

The transfer window may well have shut at the start of the month.

But clubs can still sign players who are out of contract – and those who were at the £2.5m League One limit now have leeway to cover their wages, after the salary cap was scrapped last week.

Squad restrictions are still in place in the EFL, with League One sides limited to 22 players over the age of 21.

But clubs who’ve named fewer than 22 people can make additions, like Burton Albion did last weekend when signing Danny Rowe, while teams and also get permission to register and deregister players with the EFL.

With that in mind, we’ve looked at 20 of the players - within reason – who clubs in League One could look to bring in at present.
