The Blues revealed details of the scheme on Monday as normal ticketing arrangements cannot be applied because of the need to continue to play games behind closed doors.

There’s hope that fans will be allowed back into football stadiums at some point as the season progresses.

As a result, the club has outlined its ticketing approach in a bid to plan ahead for then.

Operating for current season-ticket holders only, the flexi scheme will allow those supporters to be present at Fratton Park for selected games, calculated on a rotational basis.

A fee of £25 will be charged for fans interested, along with the price of a match ticket, with Pompey also revealing that match-day ticket prices have been frozen.

The scheme will allow current seats to be retained for the 2021-22 campaign.

But the allocation of stands and seats for this term’s home games will depend on Fratton Park capacity restrictions, rendering it unlikely supporters will be able to sit in their usual place.

Approved by the Tony Goodall Fans’ Conference and Heritage & Advisory board, those season-ticket holders interested have until Monday, August 17, until Sunday, September 13, to sign up.

In the meantime, fans have been voicing their opinions on social.

Here’s a selection of the views that have been share.

@capfc11: Going by how they have gone about this I reckon they have written off full capacity crowds for the coming season and can see people only seeing a handfull of games each.

They still need to generate some sort of income so I think the £24 for me and £7 for my son is fair enough.

@paulnwoodley: Can’t wait to get flexi-tickets & get back to Fratton.

Can’t wait to see the team, watch the game, Miss it so much.

Look forward to cheering Kenny & those selected.

Hopefully the haters wont sign up & that way those who do want to support the club will get to go more games!

@dannylaceyUK: I would probably pay the £25 to retain my seat for next season and hope that a) COVID and b) Jacket have gone by then.

Not so bothered about this season for footballing reasons as the football is turgid.

Phil Turvey: A good news story from the club at last. Great, sensible measures from the club. Happy to reserve a season ticket.

With any luck by the time this season has gone by, the virus measures will be gone and the PFA will have successfully challenged the ludicrous restraint of trade that is the salary cap.

Paul Carden: £25 and normal match day prices, possibly sitting in a random seat is certainly not a bargain for those existing season ticket holders who don't miss any games.

Also we have had the credit for the games missed for covid but what happened to the reduction due to supporters who elected for it in lieu of the Bury game. Tough times for supporters and club.

@Lawro77: The £25 is probably a bit cheeky and seats should be reserved for 21/22 without it, but the club obviously needs the money.

As for £24 a ticket, I think that’s fair enough. I’ll try to get tickets when I can.

@wellsa1970: So I need to pay to be able to pay for any tickets to matches I wish to attend?

Furthermore if I wish to retain the rights to what I class as 'My seat' I have to pay also?

Treating your supporters like this is appalling.

@pnewman8: Seems sensible and fair to me.

I don't get those people moaning about it.

The club still has players' wages to pay, and much else besides, from income that's been decimated.

Do we want a viable club to come out of this period or not?

@lollywolls: Can it not also include membership to stream the games on the I player thingy for each game?

Least then you are getting something for your money rather than just retaining your seat for the following season.

@BamfordDean: So if I don’t buy a flexi ticket I can’t guarantee my seat for the following season that I have had for 20 years, what a way to look after your fans, just blackmailing them to buy a flexi ticket.

@Michael1898_: Could've been worse tbf. Feel the adult price is slightly steep considering. But it is what it is.

Roger Drigen: So £25 to secure my seat for the 21-22 season? I'll take that, as I def wont be going this coming season.

Chris Walker: Club would gain quite a bit of goodwill if they offered this for free to everyone who told the club they could keep their money instead of a credit/refund! Just an idea PFC!
