The club has announced details of how they can attend matches once restrictions on supporters amid the coronavirus have been eased by the government.

It will allow those supporters to cheer the Blues on from the stands alongside those who have signed up to the club’s flexi-season ticket, albeit with social distancing measures remaining in place.

At present, elite level games in England will continue to be played behind closed doors because of the threat posed by Covid-19.

The government is due to issue its full proposals for spectators returning to grounds at all levels in the coming days, with October identified for some sort of return.

In anticipation of those changes, Pompey introduced a flexi-season ticket earlier this month to replace a traditional season ticket.

On Tuesday, the club revealed almost 10,000 Fratton Park regulars had signed up for the scheme – one that costs £25 and allows would-be season-ticket holders to attend games with reduced capacities on a rotational basis. It also guarantees their regular seat within the ground for the 2021-22 season.

However, those without a set spot at PO4 are also being offered the chance to be present as Kenny Jackett’s side bid for promotion to the Championship at the fourth time of asking.

They're being encouraged to sign up to the 2020-21 Pompey Membership scheme, also at a cost of £25, with a ‘proportion’ of the seats within a reduced Fratton Park capacity set aside especially for them.

It was set in motion on Monday, with those keen also set to benefit ‘digitally’ through exclusive members-only content from the club’s website, a monthly members-only newsletter, and their questions answered in online club Q&As.

No time frame has been set to sign up to the Pompey Membership.

However, season-ticket holders have until 11.59pm on Sunday, September 13, to register for the flexi ticket.

The Blues kick-start their 2020-21 season with a trip to Stevenage on Saturday in the Carabao Cup.

They begin their League One campaign against Shewsbury on Saturday, September 12, at Fratton Park.

All games will be played behind closed doors until further notice.
