How the bookies see the race between Portsmouth, Oxford and Charlton for final play-off place
Pompey are the odds on favourites to snap up the last remaining place in the League One play-offs.
That’s according to the bookies, who are all in agreement that the battle to finish sixth is stacked in the Blues’ favour going into the final day of the season.
Mathematically, two places remain in the end-of-term games, with third and fourth-placed Sunderland and Lincoln already booked in.
Blackpool, who sit fifth – two points above Pompey (6th) – are not guaranteed their place just yet.
But with the Seasiders having two games left to play – both at home to Doncaster Rover and Bristol Rovers – their participation looks a formality.
That leaves Danny Cowley’s side battling out with Oxford and Charlton to claim the final play-off spot available.
At present, Pompey hold the advantage heading into their last game against Accrington at Fratton Park on Sunday – a game that will be televised live on Sky Sports.
Meanwhile, eighth-placed Charlton are four points behind, but with games against Lincoln and champions Hull at The Valley to come.
While Pompey were beating AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, the Addicks, who were initially in control, could only draw at Accrington – a result which handed the initiative back to the Blues.
And according to the bookies, those two contrasting results have massively swung the odds back in Pompey’s favour going into Sunday’s crunch clashes.
Here’s a full round-up of how the bookmakers see the race to finish sixth…
