Christian Burgess and Cameron McGeehan crossed paths on the continent, after their recent moves to the same country on mainland Europe.

The pair would’ve been able to reflect on whirlwind periods as they caught up after becoming team-mates at Fratton Park last season.

McGeehan signed a three-year deal with Jupiler League outfit KV Oostende last week and has been quickly pitched into action following the start of the country’s top flight.

His side could feel unfortunate to go down to a 2-1 opening-day home defeat to Beerschot Wilrijk, despite piling up the chances.

McGeehan was introduced as a second-half substitute and had a decent headed opportunity which would’ve given Oostende a share of the spoils.

His team now take on Milan Mandaric’s former club Charleroi next and also entertain Belgian giants Anderlecht at the end of the month.

Meanwhile, Burgess is waiting for the competitive season to start in the second-tier Proximus League next week after joining Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on a three-year deal, with an option for an additional 12 month stay.

It’s been an epic pre-season for the defender, however, as he’s featured in seven warm-up game since the move to the Brussels-based club was officially confirmed last month.

Burgess narrowly missed going up against McGeehan as his team grabbed a 2-1 friendly victory over Oostende at the end of last month.

The 28-year-old has been in and out of the starting XI in the host of other fixtures they’ve played.

There’s been some impressive wins along the way for Union, however, most recently beating Standard Liege 4-2 and French top-flight side Lens 3-1.

Other successes came against Royal Excel Mouscron (2-0) and KAS Eupen (2-0) along with defeats to Genk (3-1) and Crossing (1-0).
