Speaking to BBC 5 Live, Marquis gave an insight into how he's been faring in charge of Pompey.

The striker said: ‘I’m Football Managering, managing Portsmouth.

‘I’ve been alright actually. I got promoted first season, won the Golden Boot and am going quite well in the Championship.

‘When I can slip myself off for 10 minutes, I try to get a few games in and try to keep the kids occupied and make sure they don't get any cabin fever either.

‘I’ve still got a couple of years left (on my contract in the game), I’m going to sit tight at the moment.

‘There are a few lads who've been kicking off over a few things.

‘Lee Brown is not happy he’s not got a new contract, I offered him a wage cut as well and he wasn’t happy.

‘But it’s been alright, been a good laugh.’
