Jordy Hiwula's shock Portsmouth inclusion in Wembley final against Salford
Jordy Hiwula is granted a Pompey start at Wembley.
The striker has been starved of first-team involvement since arriving at the club as a free agent, yet is named in Kenny Jackett’s starting XI against Salford.
He replaces Ellis Harrison in attack to partner John Marquis for the delayed 2020 Papa John’s Trophy final.
Harrison is ruled out with a knee problem, opening the door to the former Coventry man.
That is one of two changes to the Blues side which lost to Sunderland in the week for a third successive defeat.
With Andy Cannon out with a hamstring injury, George Byers is restored to Jackett’s midfield, despite walking out before kick-off on Tuesday having not made the squad.
Byers’ last appearance was the 4-1 defeat at Northampton a week today.
Meanwhile, former Wembley winner Ben Close is back among the substitutes following a first-team exile.
He was last included in the 18 men on match-day duty on January 23 for the 4-0 home loss to Hull.
Pompey: MacGillivray, Bolton, Whatmough, Raggett, Daniels, Williams, Byers, Naylor, White, Hiwula, Marquis.
Subs: Ward, Brown, Curtis, Harness, Nicolaisen, Close, Jacobs.
