And he becomes the seventh manager in the Blues’ 100-year Football League history to achieve the notable feat.

Of those victories, 69 have arrived in the league at a win ratio of 49.28 per cent.

The remaining 31 triumphs have come in cup competitions, albeit primarily the EFL Trophy.

In Pompey Football League history, Jackett joins Harry Redknapp (108), Alan Ball (122), George Smith (157), Bob Jackson (112), Jack Tinn (206) and John McCartney (112) in reaching the landmark.

Redknapp won 54 matches in each of his two Fratton Park spells, totalling 108 victories in 243 games in charge.

He totalled 122 wins from 320 fixtures, with 28 of those in an ill-fated 22-month second spell which ended in December 1999.

Jim Smith recorded 83 wins, but George Smith, no relation, amassed 157 during his nine-year tenure as Pompey’s boss, before moved upstairs to general manager.

George Smith took over in April 1961, overseeing 432 matches. He was replaced by Ron Tindall in April 1970.

Undoubtedly Pompey’s greatest manager, Bob Jackson, took them to two First Division titles and amassed 112 wins, before departing for Hull in June 1952.

His predecessor was Jack Tinn, the Blues’ longest-serving manager, with his time in charge also including the Second World War.

Under Tinn, Pompey reached the FA Cup three times, winning it at their third attempt in 1939. Overall, he registered 230 wins.

Finally, John McCartney was appointed ahead of the Blues’ inaugural Football League season in 1920-21.

During his seven-year stay, he steered Pompey to two promotions to reach the First Division, and collected 132 wins overall.

Jackett is now the latest entry in the 100 club – and also has the opportunity to add promotion to his list of accomplishments this season.
