And it has been revealed that Lee Brown suffered some soft tissue damage on his hamstring as he hobbled off during the first half of today’s 2-1 defeat against Burton.

Jacobs wasn’t named in the Blues’ match-day squad for today’s Brewers game.

He failed to return after the break against Wigan on Easter Monday, after being handed a start at the DW Stadium.

And it has since emerged that he will require an operation on his knee which will take place on Monday and likely keep him out for the remainder of the season.

Danny Cowley confirmed that the forward was kicked in the back of the knee against the Latics – the same knee that he had medial damage with earlier this season.

It’s the latest in a series of injury problems Jacobs has picked up since joining the Fratton Park club at the start of the 2020-21 term.

He’s made 22 Pompey appearances, but his form and impact has been hampered by fitness concerns.

It remains to be seen how long Brown will be out for, after he was replaced by Charlie Daniels against Burton.

The Blues, though, can ill afford too many injuries, with Ellis Harrison already ruled out for the season and Jordy Hiwula expected to miss the remaining seven games of the regular campaign.
