Burton Albion Away Travel Information

On Good Friday, April 19, the Blue Army will be travelling to Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium, Princess Way, Burton Upon Trent, DE13 0BH. The kick off is at 3pm.

The Brewer’s moved to the Pirelli in 2005. It has a capacity of 6,912 (2,034 seated). Blues fans will mainly be on the East Terrace, with some seating allocated in the Main Stand.

Getting to the Pirelli

By Road

The Pirelli Stadium is situated in north Burton, just off the A5121 (Derby Road).

Leave the M1 at junction 22 and join the A511 towards Coalville and Burton. Continue along the A511 for approximately seventeen miles, past Coalville and through Ashby-de-la-Zouch, until you are nearly at Burton. Beware the speed cameras on this stretch of road.

Turn right at the junction with the A5121 towards Burton north. You will pass a McDonalds and the Pirelli factory on your right and a BP garage on your left. Just before the next roundabout you will see the stadium on your right. Turn right at the roundabout into Princess Way. A short distance along Princess Way on the right, is the entrance to the club car park.

Parking

There is a car park at the ground which costs £5, however it usually gets full quite early on.

Parking is also available at the Ryknild Trading Estate (also costing £5), situated just off the roundabout by the stadium.

The nearby Eton Park Junior School, Masefield Crescent, DE14 2SG, offers parking for a small charge, as does The Pirelli Factory.

By Train

Trains run regularly from Birmingham New Street to Burton. The journey will take about thirty minutes.

Birmingham New Street can be reached from Portsmouth with a change at either Southampton or Winchester, a journey of just over three hours. Alternatively trains run from London Marylebone to Birmingham Moor Street, a journey of around two hours. Birmingham Moor Street to Birmingham New Street is about a ten minute walk, the route is signposted.

Burton Railway Station is about a mile and a half away from the Pirelli Stadium. As you come out of the station, turn left and go down the hill. Turn right into Derby Street and from there it is a straight road up to the stadium.

If you don’t fancy a walk, there is a taxi rank at the station.

Eating and drinking

As you would expect from a town known for its brewery there is a good choice of pubs in the town.

To name a few, The Beech Inn, Derby Road, DE13 0DL, will be welcoming Pompey fans. It is about ten minutes walk from the stadium up the Derby Road, going away from the town centre. The Beech serves rolls and pies. It has a small car park with a charge of £5 per car.

Further on past the pub towards the stadium there is a McDonalds.

The Great Northern pub, Wetmore Road, DE14 1QS, an unusual triangular shaped pub, serves Burton Bridge Bitter, pies and filled rolls. It is about a six minute walk from the stadium.

If you are into real ale then try the Burton Town Brewery, 8 Falcon Close, DE14 1SG. About 10 minutes walk from the ground, they sell beer brewed on the premises but do not sell food.

In town, turn right out of the station, the first pub you will come to is the Roebuck Inn at 101 Station Street, DE14 1BT. The Roebuck serves a selection of real ales and has televised sport.

A short walk towards town from the Roebuck is a micro brewery, The Last Heretic, DE14 1BX, which has a beer garden.

On the way to the ground is the Fish Hut fish and chip shop, Unit 19. Northside Business Park,

Hawkins Lane, DE14 1DB.

There are various places to eat in the town.

Inside the Pirelli, in the concourse you will find a selection of pies, burgers and hot dogs, alcoholic drinks and hot and cold drinks.

The nearest cash point is located across the road from the stadium at the Co-op food store almost opposite the car park entrance.
