The Cod Army are believed to have placed a low six-figure offer for the 28-year-old, who is into the final 12 months of his deal at the Mazuma Stadium.

Chelsea are believed to be keeping tabs on Peterborough centre-back Ronnie Edwards.

Posh director Barry Fry has revealed the Premier League outfit are the latest top flight side to monitor the progress of the 19-year-old after a standout campaign in the Championship last term.

He told the Peterborough Telegraph: ‘I’ve had conversations with people at Chelsea who are in the know and who would be involved in any decision-making.

‘They haven’t made a bid yet, but there are three weeks until the transfer window closes. They certainly like him.’

Earlier in the summer, Crystal Palace had a £4m bid rejected for the defender after he played a key role in England’s glory in the under-19 European Championships.

Edwards has also been linked with Spurs, Aston Villa and Southampton during the window and is believed to be valued between £10m and £20m by the Posh.

Sheff Wed duo join Brentford

Highly-rated Sheffield Wednesday youngsters Tony Yogane and Issac Holland have joined Premier League side Brentford for undisclosed fees.

The pair had initially agreed scholarships at Hillsborough earlier in the summer, however rejected those deals to make the switch to the Bees’ B team.

The promising teenage duo helped the Owls finish fourth in the Professional Development League North as well as reaching the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup last term.

Yogane and Holland have since agreed a scholarship at the Gtech Community Stadium and signed a pre-contract agreement, which will trigger a three-year professional deal when they turn 17.
