Duo weigh-up move for striker

Peterborough and MK Dons are weighing up a move for Macclesfield striker James Berry, according to the Football League World.

The League One duo are believed to be among a host of clubs who are keeping tabs on the 21-year-old’s progress, ahead of a possible swoop before the close of the window.

The non-league outfit’s record signing netted 24 times, while registering 18 assists as the Silkmen won the North West Counties Premier Division last term.

Indeed, this season Berry has continued his strong form in front of goal, scoring three goals in the opening weeks of the campaign.

The striker came through the ranks at Liverpool before spells at Wigan and Hull ahead of a move to non-league Altrincham in 2021.

Stockton saga continues

Fleetwood have reportedly stepped up their interest in want-away Morecambe striker Cole Stockton.

The Code Army are believed to have put in an improved second bid for the 28-year-old after they had an initial £100,000 offer rejected by the Shrimps.

Derek Adams’ men have once again turned down the bettered terms, which is still way off their £600,000 asking price for the forward

After rejecting a new deal at the Mazuma Stadium, Stockton has been linked with moves away this summer with Pompey, Rotherham and Shrewsbury among a host of clubs credited with interest in the striker.

The former Tranmere man is into the last 12-months of his deal with Morecambe and has made four outings this term.

Broom bid accepted

Peterborough have accepted a bid for midfielder Ryan Broom.

The 25-year-old was transfer-listed by Grant McCann following his side’s relegation from the Championship last term after spending the 2021-22 campaign on loan at Plymouth.

While Argyle failed to make his temporary stay permanent, League Two duo Mansfield and Stevenage were also credited with interest during the window.

However, Posh director Darragh MacAnthony revealed on Twitter: ‘accepted another bid for him yesterday. So let’s see.’

Broom was linked with Pompey in 2019 but there is no indication of where his next destination will be.
