Mark Catlin addresses ongoing question over Kenny Jackett's Portsmouth contract

Mark Catlin is remaining tight-lipped on Kenny Jackett’s Pompey contract situation.

The deal the Blues boss signed in November 2017 is scheduled to expire after the season’s end.

Yet publicly, Jackett and the club have declined to reveal whether his four-season stay will be extended.

Since replacing Paul Cook in June 2017, the 58-year-old has overseen 187 Blues fixtures, leading them to the play-offs twice and winning the Checkatrade Trophy.

However, it remains unclear whether Jackett will remain at Fratton Park behind the current League One campaign.

Pompey chief executive Catlin told The News: ‘There is no story here, Kenny is the contracted manager of Portsmouth Football Club and we don’t discuss individual contracts of players or managers.

‘We never have and we never will. They are private and confidential between both parties.

‘I can talk generally, but not in regards of individuals.

‘We speak to Kenny on a daily basis. Whether Kenny is happy or not (about the situation) is a question for Kenny, not for me to answer.

‘Whether talks have already been held, that is again private and confidential between myself, the board and our manager.’

Earlier this season there were strong calls from the majority of a disillusioned fanbase for Jackett to be dismissed.

However, the Blues’ form has picked up considerably, rising to fourth in League One during the last week.

They are currently three points adrift of second-placed Peterborough, while host King’s Lynn on Saturday bidding to reach the third round of the FA Cup.

Jackett was recently shortlisted for the October Sky Bet Manager of the Month, yet was beaten by Posh boss Darren Ferguson.
