National League clubs have voted to end the regular season at its current point amid the coronavirus crisis, with remaining fixtures cancelled.

That means May will return to Pompey in what’s been a frustrating season for him.

The Blues midfielder spent the first half of this term on loan at Swindon, but he made just 13 appearances before cutting his time at the League Two leaders short in January.

May moved to Boreham Wood a month later to bolster their National League promotion aspirations.

He netted on his debut in a 3-2 loss at Aldershot before making another appearance in a 1-1 draw with Hartlepool.

May sustained an injury before the National League shut down on March 16 – and now there will be no more games played.

Promotion and relegation scenarios are now ‘under careful consideration’.

May’s Pompey contract is due to expire on June 30.

In total, he's made 29 appearances for the Blues following his debut in April 2015.
